So here is this lovely woman whom you'd think had it all. But her life isn't really so unusual except for the men to whom she was married. Many of us had tragic childhoods. Hers was lonely (except she has great siblings when she gets to see them) and her parents basically abandoned her. Okay, so get therapy as have the rest of us. I'm not saying I have no pity, but she comes across as very "Me Me Me" and since the book is about her, I suppose that's her right. What I do respect is that it seems she eventually, more or less, learned the lessons of codependency and did something about it. I'm really glad Eric Clapton got sober. I'd like to read his biography and see where he's coming from. Will always love George Harrison and it really is a shame the 60s set up so many marriages for failure with the culture of "you can have it all" drugs and sex. Which we've now learned through our/my parents isn't all it's cracked up to be. Pattie is my mother's age, so I see her much as I see my own mother. I guess other than that, I'm terribly sorry she never was able to have children. She's probably a super great Auntie though! I bet she's a lot of fun to be around and I'd love to visit her garden. I like her better as she ages and matures. Then again, same could be said for self. And there it is. I liked the book all 'round and would say it's worth a read if you're a fan of the gents in question or the era. Would have liked to have seen more modeling pics, but I always like art. I bet her early London outfits were lots of fun!

Well worth the read if you ever loved the music of Eric Clapton and/or George Harrison. Ms. Boyd handles the story that you probably already know, quite well. She spends a lot of time talking about their music, and treats Clapton and Harrison with a lot of dignity. It wasn't gossipy. The story I knew was gossipy. She doesn't take that route at all.

Wow! So many of us girls would have wished ourselves to be Pattie Boyd back then. I mean how lucky could you get to have one of the Beatles fall in love with you and want to marry you? Or had two famous men write such beautiful songs that were specifically about them? Pattie was obviously a very beautiful and SPECIAL woman. But she ended up being just like so many other women of much less fame. Beauty alone is not going to keep your man true to you or home with you when you need him the most. After they sow their "Wild Oats', many men start realizing that they want to have children and leave an imprint of themselves and their lineage behind them before they die. Sadly, I think that is how Pattie ended up losing both George and Eric. I think both realized that they wanted to be fathers, and Pattie could not (for whatever reason) provide either husband with the one thing that may have been the glue that bonded them together and prevented outcomes that were (in my opinion) tumultuous and forever life-altering.

It's taken me a while to write this review. I used to kid that in "my next life" I wanted to be Patty Boyd. How incredible to be loved by both George Harrison and Eric Clapton, two of my very favorite rock musicians! But the book left me feeling sorry for Patty, she seems to have led such a very superficial and exploited life. Much of the book is about drugs and alcohol abuse, and (escapist?) travels to far away and exotic places. I also had all my misperceptions about Eric Clapton blown; what a boar! I wish for Patty's sake that she could have worked things out with George Harrison; I believe they really loved each other. But George went on to find a new love, and have a son, so I guess things worked out for him the way they were supposed too. The latter part of the book talks a lot about Patty's money problems; but she still seems to travel and travel! Her life experiences and perceptions of the value of money are so different from the average persons! One other note. I bought this book for $1.99 a couple of months ago. Apparently, more people are still reading it, as the price has gone up. Don't know if I would have been satisfied if I'd paid a higher price, but I'm glad I bought and read the book.

I found everything post childhood interesting...kind of a sad childhood with no real paternal guidance and little love, it seems, but I just wanted to get through it and on the George and the Beatles. I enjoyed those parts and then on to Eric Clapton, but you can't help but notice she was such a "follower". What they wanted to do, she did. No independence and while she was part of the hippy era, she takes no position or even mentions the women's liberation movement. Her life was pretty much a party because the friends she had pretty much lived that life as well. She discusses alcoholism issues regarding Clapton, her sister, and others, but never admits she had a problem, because it quickly becomes apparent that she did, too. She writes often of having too much to drink, drinking in the morning with Clapton, automobile accidents involving alcohol, but never confesses that she herself had a problem. Throughout this life, she made lots and lots of bad decisions, one after the other.

I couldn’t even finish this book because it was sooooo boring. And the name dropping was constant. Who cares who so and so was who lived across the street, or sitting at the bar, etc., etc., she names practically everyone she passes on the street. And any information about George Harrison or the Beatles was lifted straight out of Teen magazine. Nothing new or interesting in this book. Total disappointment. Don’t waste your time.

Great read!My only complaint from the get-go is her braggadocious writing style, though she has a lot to tell. There were times where I just skipped a few sentences because the name dropping served as fluff and could at times be difficult to keep up with. Although, I don't often read autobiographies so I may have just been expecting each "character" to contribute more to the scene. After getting used to that, the stories were addicting and gut wrenching. I'll never listen to "Wonderful Tonight" the same again.Definitely recommend this read for anyone that loves The Beatles, Eric Clapton, or just this time in Rock & Roll/pop culture/ history in general.
