I love the Titan series, but this one just didn't seem to measure up to the other ones. The female lead, Beth, needs some serious psychiatric help and never seems to get her act together. Roman is typical Titan, and is able to cope with Beth's issues but I can't really understand why he wants to. She cannot get over her husband committing suicide, and has nightmares about being called a traitorous bitch which seem to have no basis at all except she is involved with Roman. She is supposed to be CIA but does not really seem to have any sort skill but can jump in at a moments notice and may have to have sex with a criminal because it is her job. Roman calls her party girl and that appears all she is with a major amount of issues.

Roman and Beth have been side, but crucial, characters for several of the Titan books. They've been dancing around each other romantically for as long as we've known them. In this book Roman and Beth finally get their own story. Both our protagonists seem to be damaged from past experiences. For sure Beth is suffering from a mild form of PTSD due to the horrible circumstances of her husband's death. Roman is still learning to accept his sister, Nic, is back from the dead. But despite their rough pasts they soldier on. Roman as the steadfast, heroic Titan operative Beth as a CIA analyst and field agent. But Beth is frustrated in her current position, she wants more than her current socialite cover. In comparison, Roman has nothing but field mission adventures. Soon the twain meets and Roman and Beth begin working together. Even though Beth has buried herself in her CIA personna, Roman sees beyond her fake cover. He realizes, long before she does, they belong together. Their missions together are mysterious, exciting and ripped right out of current terrorist exploits. The personal and organizational conflicts faced by our heroes draw us into their world. Beth gradually overcomes her fear, guilt and self loathing due to Roman's belief in and love for her. Beautiful story of love and dedication winning over greed and anger.

Love just is. There is nothing you can do about it. Roman Heart and Beth Tourne are flawed people shouldering tremendous responsibilities. The masks they show the world help keep them sane; help those relying on them to feel secure. And those same masks keep each from finding the one true love that would make those masks unnecessary. Roman-the rock solid team leader of Titan. Beth-the newly activated operator for the CIA. Their assignment-simply save the entire world from nuclear destruction. Just another day on the job for Titan. The job was the easy part. The steadfast denial of their love almost destroyed everything. Roman and Beth have danced around each other for over a year Both knowing once the walls inside came down they would be vulnerable to the one thing each feared...love.Cristin Harber doesn't write about beautiful princesses finding their hunky prince charming. Her women are strong and they are flawed. Their men are purpose-driven alpha males. These women don't complement their men - they complete them."HEART ATTACK" isn't just a spicy, romantic thriller. It is an affirmation to the fact that love isn't easy nor is it convenient. Love can destroy us as it builds us stronger than before. Modern problems. Modern people. Same truth - love conquers all!I have no choice but give this wonderful story a full 5 stars. Read it. Join Team Titan. You won't regret it and you just may find the courage to give love a shot...just like Roman and Beth.

I have been intrigued by Roman Heart since I first encountered this series with the prequel, Sweet Girl. As I read each book, I fell more for him and I could not wait to read his story.True to form, Cristen Harber continues to create a fantastic storyline filled with suspense and memorable characters, in Hart Attack. She intricately weaves multiple storylines throughout her incredible books; all while managing to tell a complete story in one book and propelling future plots to come. For the past few books, there has been bits and pieces shared about both Roman and Beth, but nothing prepared me for their story. Beth is a deep cover CIA agent. She used to be Nicola's handler, but since Nicola has move on to working with the Titan Group (a covert ops company), Beth has branching out. When an assignment presents itself, Beth has little choice in taking it, especially if she wants to further her career. When she needs security, to keep her cover she turns to Roman to provide it for her on an over seas assignment, ultimately teaming up with Titan. Nothing abouth this new assignment goes as planned and Beth and Roman are unprepared for the ramifications. The only thing I didn't like about this book is that it had to end. The best part is that there is more to this series, so it will not be the end of these incredible characters for me!PS- The audio version of this book only enhanced Cristin's talents as an author. Jeffrey Kafer continues to captvate me with his talents as a narrator. His deep timber voice does the characters and storyline justice!
