I have read several other books in this series. But it feels like this one was "called in". This dialogue was flat. The events were too far separated by soul searching over kisses.

I felt like this book took a long time to finish. The characters were okay, as was the story-line, but there's not much to remember it by.

I didn't realize that I had read the book before until I started to anticipate what would happen next. Still, I read it to the end again. It is the kind of book that is relaxing and fun. No great depth. Many times I read as an escape - this is that kind of book.

This was an okay book but not one of her best I think. The end seemed kind of rushed and it's hard to imagine love blooming into something so strong in such a short time with only a few dates. Sorry but not a keeper for me.

this book is very comprehensive in it's dealings with and exposure of the dark side, the spirit realm. i challenge everyone, christian or non-christian to read this book with an open mind and see if it is logical and makes sense. i believe this book will usher the reader into a paradigm shift of their thinking. there is more to reality than what we see and recognize in our 3-dimensional tangible world. there are unseen forces in motion, both good and bad. there is a war going on for our souls and most of us miss it. we are but mere victims being tossed to and fro on this sea of life. the battlefield is the mind. you cannot see the wind but you can see the effects. once you understand the principles you can begin to see the reality of what you cannot see. i have been delivered from spirits, first of suicide and then depression. no one knew my battle but it was my life. day in and day out. i saw no way out. i had planned to take my wife and then myself. countless hours, weeks, months were wasted planning the destruction of the two of us. but praise god for leading us to a deliverance church here in fayetteville, nc where the pastor taught on deliverance and then ministered deliverance in a closed-door 'counseling' session. the spirits manifested and, like with the wind, though you could not see the spirits, you could see the effects as they took me over. deliverance was powerful and i was set free. this book was one of the first reference books i found to give me more information on what had just transpired and saved my life, and my wife's life. deliverance is needed everywhere and i predict it will be coming into prominence in the near future. i encourage everyone, but especially those who have ever wondered 'is there more?' 'is there something that i am missing?' to get this book and see if it fits their perception of reality. there are new and bigger horizons out there. this book will pave the road and point the way. it is time for that paradigm shift.

I'm half way through this book and it is possibly the best book on deliverance I've read to date. It explains many aspects of deliverance, gives scriptures to back up claims and examples of events that happened in the author's own life while preaching and ministering deliverance. He touches on many points that explain how we are affected by the demonic, where they come from, what they are according to scripture and how we open ourselves up to evil spirits. This is a great read and I would highly recommend it to church leaders and/or any one who is interested in ministry or for spiritual enrichment and growth!

great book for a foundation on healing and deliverance...horrobin covers everything a true a to z work...also a tremendous refresher for those who have been in the healing and deliverance ministry for a long time...truly a comprehensive work!

The book was divided into three sections. The first section was the Biblical background for the demonic and evil spirits. The second section dealt with the different types of spirits and how they effect us. The last section dealt with the procedures for freeing people. The author seems evil spirits in a lot of the New Testament Scriptures. I am not sure if I totally agree with all his understanding. I do agree that with Jesus (God) walking on the earth that the demonic forces would be out to stop Him at any cost. It would be challenging to refute the author's work since he has verified mostly everything through the experiences of his ministry. There were a few parts in his book which I disagreed with. He does not offer you a clear set of steps to follow that will work for everyone. The Holy Spirit has to be your guide, because everyone is different.

Not a lot of content. I am looking for something more substantial. This would make for a quick bathroom read.

I love organic food and as a fact I love gardening too. I have always wanted an organic garden of my own so that I can have the pleasure of gardening as well as the pleasure of ensuring that my fruits and vegetables are completely organic without any chemicals and all! This book is indeed a great one for starters like me as it give complete guidance on this subject. How to prepare the soil you will need, that kind of vegetables you can grow, what are the equipments required, what to expect and what not to. At the end I must say, it was the best guide I could get on organic gardening! Suggested!

This book lacked organic specific gardening essentials. It was more a basic gardening guide. Recommends average products for soil without specifying what needs to be organic and chemical free in order for your plants to remain organic and toxin free. Not really impressed but it is a nice basic guide for beginners.

This book literally takes the reader by the hand and shows you step by step to growing your own organic foods in return boosting your health and immune system. Outliers begins with a provocative look at why certain five-year-old boys enjoy an advantage in ice hockey, and how these advantages accumulate over time. We learn what Bill Gates, the Beatles and Mozart had in common: along with talent and ambition, each enjoyed an unusual opportunity to intensively cultivate a skill that allowed them to rise above their peers. A detailed investigation of the unique culture and skills of Eastern European Jewish immigrants persuasively explains their rise in 20th-century New York, first in the garment trade and then in the legal profession. Malcolm Gladwell, a writer for the New Yorker (wonderful articles on NFL concussions and NYC rubber rooms in 2009), released this book in the fall of 2008. It spent a few months on the non-fiction best seller list. Gladwell explains that stories of success are usually much more complicated than people (or the media) often make them appear. He writes that the American arch-type of the self-made man is really a myth, and that a great deal of success is often the result of a mixture of time, parents, practice, opportunity and chance.(1) A brilliant point that he offers is that 14 of the 75 richest people in world history (translated into 2008 dollars) were Americans born in the 1830's. He cites that they had to be young enough to avoid the pre-civil War mind-set but old enough to take advantage of the opportunities that Wall Street, the railroads and industrial manufacturing provided between 1865 and 1880. This was one of his several examples about the importance of being born at the right time.(2) Gladwell explained how most of the European immigrants who ended up in NYC in the late 1800's and early 1900's did not have a skill or trade. The Jews that came from Eastern Europe usually had some experience with clothing; as a result, NYC was the world center of garment making during the first half of the 20th century, and the new businesses that sprung up and flourished were almost entirely owned and run by Jews. The children of garment workers (and owners) learned the importance of persuasion, hustle, shrewdness and long hours. Many garment workers' children became professionals, such as doctors and lawyers.(3) He forwards the "10,000" rule in chapter 2 and cites that the Beatles were on stage for about 10,000 hours in Hamburg, Germany, and that experience transformed them into a band that could play lots of songs in a variety of different styles. Bill Gates also had 10,000 hours of practice on a computer in the late 60's, and Mozart wrote music for about 10,000 hours before he started turning out his greatest work.(4) The Beatles were given the opportunity to play in Hamburg because of the relationship that a booking agent from Liverpool had with some Germans. Gates had access to a computer because of where he grew up (going to a rich school that was close to the University of Washington) and who he knew (a friend's parents got them 24 hour access to computers around Seattle). Chris Langan, an American with an IQ of 195, never had many opportunities, and so his brain was largely squandered (which Gladwell details in his chapter "The Trouble with Geniuses, Part I").(5) There is a huge amount of luck that runs through all of these pieces. Working at something for 10,000 hours is individually driven, but timing, parents and opportunity has nothing to do with being self-made.Gladwell writes in the same style as ESPN's Bill Simmons (whose latest book he wrote the intro for). He is easy to follow, he is funny and he uses a great deal of footnotes. The great flaw in Gladwell's work is that while his arguments and connections are interesting and make sense, they are not driven by research or that much hard data. He relies on anecdotal stories and hammering his points repeatedly. He rarely provides an opposing view to his points.

This is not just a good book. This is an important book. One of the first things I realized in reading this book by Malcolm Gladwell is that his position is diametrically opposite from that of Dr. Ben Carson, who through his campaign for the presidency stated that "poverty is a state of mind." Carson emphasized that despite all odds he was able to pull himself out of poverty and become a neurosurgeon and accomplish the things he did.Gladwell's book states early that success doesn't happen in a vacuum. It isn't based on intelligence, but on a variety of factors, and he uses multiple examples to demonstrate that we as a nation could have many more successful people in our country if we were to accept that it takes a village to make successes out of our children. In fact, he shows that hard work and opportunity in almost all cases are more important than intelligence.One story tells of the Canadian hockey league and the fascinating statistic that the vast majority of all successful hockey players are born in January, February or March. Why? Because the cutoff date for signing children is January 1, and those born in the first three months have a distinct advantage in age, experience and size in relation to those they play against. That same cutoff date is used by other countries, such as the Czech Republic, for not only hockey but soccer as well, which means that children born in the later part of the year consistently are overlooked when it comes to team sports. It's a built-in bias.These biases are all around us, and determine who succeeds or fails, constantly. In addition, the bias of a culture has a significant effect on how well a student does. Gladwell talks about the belief that Asians are better at math, which he shows is because their languages are more number-friendly, leading children to count earlier, and which make math simpler. In addition, he shows the inherent tradition of hard work of southern China had resulted in a work ethic for their descendants that continues today.Many of the stories are supported with statistics. One of the most eye-opening to me was his observation of the impact on summer vacation. Statistics show that the amount that lower-, middle-, and upper-class students learn in elementary school each year isn't that significantly different. But when you compare what they learn or forget over summer vacation, there is a significant discrepancy. Upper-class parents keep their children busy with lessons and classes all summer, while in most situations lower and even middle-class students don't do much during the summer and often forget much of what they have learned the previous year. As the summers add up, the problem compounds. And so the difference between upper, middle and lower class widens.The book is significant, easy to read, and extremely thought provoking. I highly recommend it.

I bought this book because I needed to know the basics of Filipino cooking, and my Filipino relatives do not write their (or their maids') recipes down. I cannot just call my aunt in Manila to ask her cooks how to make kalderetang kambing, and searching on the internet for it turns up hundreds of results with personal twists. Plus its hard to cook and use an iPad without getting it all sloppy and wet. I'd rather get a paperback book messy.I realize that cookbook recipes are not to be followed 100% and that is why I love this book. It lets me be open to interpretation, which is the reality of Filipino cooking. No two households make one Filipino dish the same. Neither do any two restaurants. This book gives you the basic recipe and you can tweak it any way you want. Make it taste like Lola's cooking, or put your own twist. My only gripe is that there are no photos. I like photos! Otherwise I would recommend this book for any cook's library, especially if you like experimenting with Asian or Filipino cuisine.

I’ve been using this book. My mom gave her old book to me. Growing up in Philippines she’s always the one to cook the special Filipino recipies.

I am very happy with this cookbook. As a matter of fact I bought several of this book to give it as a gift. With several Filipino cookbooks I bought, Alejandro's cookbook is the most precise. I will give a 5-Star!
