It's not only one of the best parenting books I've ever read, it's a book all educators, coaches, and civic club leaders must read. Even if you don't have kids, you'll love this personal journey filled with motivation, leadership training, and success tactics practiced by Eric and his fellow SEAL instructors.Not everyone will be able to do the SEAL stuff, but everyone can do this: spend more time building relationships with your kids, refuse to be or allow children around "dream killers," and instill confidence in your children or any child you encounter by believing in and demanding the best from them--and modeling the same."Raising Men" made me want to push myself more, not just for my son, but for myself, too.

This was simply a phenomenal book on fatherhood. All of Eric's stories made me feel like an inadequate dad but I'm okay with that because it motivated me to work on myself. Enter this book without the ego and with an open mind and you're sure to walk away a different man.

I was hoping for more. The book itself is entertaining but Im skeptical on how much useful information there is on parenting. For instance, the son doesn't want to do his homework so navy seal dad smashes his skateboard and throws the ps4 into the pool and makes the son jump in to get it... a little extreme. The book is more seal stories than parenting advice.

Couple chapters in and I was hooked. I served in the Navy as well and use/have used many of the principles I was taught while serving in raising my 3 kids. Discipline, accountability, neatness, physical fitness, self control, attention to detail, loyalty, and teamwork to name just a few. Raising young boys to become fine young men doesn't happen by accident. You need a plan, and it takes effort...every day, even when YOU don't feel like it. This book will help you develop your own plan that meets your needs.

I get the marketing appeal by naming the book “Raising Men”, but I found it to be applicable if you are “raising men or women”.In fact, Eric himself has daughters and uses very good examples applicable to girls.This book has many valuable guidelines to help your kids develop confidence, responsibility, respect, courage and discipline, which are essential qualities that require consistency, discipline and leadership by ourselves, the parents.In summary, a very good book.

I enjoyed this book... a lot. It's a whole new perspective of how to do this (parenting) the best way we possibly can by improving ourselves first. I learned many valuable concepts and lessons, not necessarily parenting-related.And I also think it can be applied to any kid, regardless the gender.

One of the best books I have read on being a better parent and a better person. My wife is reading it now too I enjoyed it so much. Eric knows his stuff and this book is one I will go back through time and time again.

Great classic compendium of Federal Indian Law!

Really thorough and easy to navigate. It has been a great resource in my legal practice.

My office needed a new copy of this book. We were working off the 1958 version. So updating it was worth the $$.

This is a compendium in the true measure of the word. The range of material is amazing considering it's (only) 1413 pp. Nearly half of every page is taken up by footnotes, most of which reference cases, some with brief explanations. At the back is an alphabetical Table of Cases that is 65 pp long...and it's in small print so there're enough to give even the most voracious researcher a run for her money. This is followed by 47 pp. of the Table of Statutes. And then there's the Index. And finally...the pocket part that invludes a reference to a July, 2008 Fed reg. What is astounding is how consistent the style of writing is...and it's good. It's readable without creating the suspicion they've dumbed it down and you're missing something. A deal for the price!

Federal Indian law is a very complicated subject. This book starts out with a great overview of the history of Indian law and policy. It follows with detailed discussions of every aspect of Indian law. Whether you want to know about Indian gaming (casinos), water rights, civil rights of Indians and non-Indians under tribal law, or anything else, this book has got it all! I practice in the field and this where I always start my research. It's also a great source of background material for news reporters and those interested in policy information. It also gets updated every two years, so you know you have the current information.

This is an amazing resource--every time I have an Indian Law question (and I write and teach in the field) I turn to the 2005 edition and find the answer, or at least the sources to get me on the right track. Everyone dealing within Indian law questions should get it.

I am a pets owner with no Veterinary Medicine background, and English is not my first language. Although this book is written for veterinary doctors, I found this book extremely helpful as a resource/reference on my dog's GI issues. The book editor, Dr. Steiner is an international known scholar and clinician who won a prestige Pfizer research award. I found the book very well organized: logical, concise and very easy to follow. It starts with a section on diagnosis of GI disorder, followed by diseases of GI track. It has a lot of helpful figures and tables with differential diagnosis (e.g. by present/absent of certain symptoms). It also suggests multiple assessment tools to confirm or rule out certain GI disorders based on current research and clinical findings, as well as empirically validated treatment protocols. This entire book is printed on very high quality paper with a lot of colorful photos from actual cases. Since I do not know most of the vet terminologies, I also use the abbreviations and subject index to look up tests our doctors recommended or performed. There is a lot of information on the internet and it's hard for me to sort out what is valid. With this book, I am confident that I am getting the evidence based (scientifically proven) and practical clinical information from international experts in this field. This is one of the best veterinary textbooks I've read. I highly recommend this book for libraries, veterinary doctors, and even pet owners.

This is a very nice book with a great selection of trails and excellent trail descriptions. The maps are quite good, although it's a little hard to see how they connect to main roads without having a topo map (or use google maps more likely). The reason I didn't give it more than three stars is the terrible print and paper quality. The pictures look like they've been printed on an ink jet that's running out of ink (though only in grayscale of course!) and the paper is so light that the print runs through to the other side. There are many streaks and alignment issues throughout. The binding is also poor quality--the first few pages started falling out as soon as I opened it. This is a shame, because it is really a well written book.

Who knew we had so many great places to hike so close. I purchased this book for our college son who loves the outdoors. He has several hikes dog eared waiting for spring to arrive so he can get out and enjoy nature. The book details the location, provides historic information about the area and even gives information on what to expect with weather, crowds and other critical facts to help your hike successful. It's an easy read that I must confess I read before I wrapped and gave to my son. If he leaves the book here while he's at college, I may just snag the book from him. This book is a must if you are considering hiking in Missouri.

This book is the perfect hiking planner partner. Covers all the bases, lets you know up front what to expect, sights you will see along the way. I love this book, it gives you great directions on how to get to these places. Living in AR I can vouch that they are not all marked, some are hidden and you have to know what you are looking for. Lets you know about nearby camping, all you have to do is go online and find out the details, like fees and procedures to reserve if any. Perfect for weekend backpacker/hiker such as me. My dog, this book, and camp equip is all I need.

Good rough location map. Good spreadsheet on hikes. 1 for Mo and 1 for AR but I added page numbers to find the hike rather than use his hike numbers. I only checked some AK hikes but the MO hikes are of the same caliber. The hikes are in the north west part of AR in a tight cluster so you can stay at a central location. They range from 1 to 12 miles. Entering the state you can pick up flyers for the more public state park hikes further south. Directions to trailheads are good but sometimes you may have to ask for help. This is a function of location and nothing to do with lack of detail. GPS Coordinates are listed for each place. The hikes appear to be at more remote locations tnen are mentioned in some other MO and AR hiking books. Each hike has a black and white picture of a feature found on the hike.This is a worthwhile book to have and is in the same style and detail as his other books.

Bought this as a birthday gift for a hiker. He seemed pleased with it.

I recently purchased this book and have already had the opportunity to use it on the trails. It is a worthy source of info that will serve you well. The excellent photographs will leave you eager to begin your next hiking trip in the ozarks of Missouri and Arkansas so that you can see these magical places for yourself.

I love that this one covers both Arkansas and Missouri. I still think there is more you could include, but it's still cool.

I purchased this book along with two other items. 101 Swing Essentials and Big Band Swing filled out my excursion into the Big Bands and Swing Era. The Swing Book is very well written and guides you through the times. Bands,music and personalities are introduced and you get to know them. This is the book you need if you want to know about Swing. I have always been curious of the time and music. This book THE SWING BOOK coupled with the book BIG BAND SWING for the sheet music and the CD or download of 101 SWING ESSENTIALS will put it all together. The Swing Book is descriptive and covers the bands, people and music. 101 Swing Essentials lets you listen to a song as you read of it and Big Band Swing offers the core of the songs in sheet music. A wonderful trio. If you must purchase only one of the three then I would suggest this book THE SWING BOOK. But, I really recommend going for the three as they really put it all together. Good stuff.

Degen Pener has really done his homework on this one. A fine book which treats its subject with respect. With the exception of a few books, Swing is usually given a brief glance in books on music and Jazz and those books often put the music and the dancers down. Pener really seems to like his subject and gives great recommendations on music to buy if you're just starting a collection. Top it all off with a reasonable price and you've got a book that Jazz lovers, Swing music lovers, and Swing dancers should clear space for on their book shelf.

but nothing more. I would recommend it if you are interested in the history of swing (particularly the music) and want a guide to swing musicians. Do not expect to learn to swing dance from this book. The lindy hop chapter is like like a glossary of swing dance terms.Overall, it is well written and and provides a good introduction but it is too general and its focus can be too brief at times. It doesn't contain anything you couldn't learn from going to a swing dance or using a search engine.

What a fabulous book! It appealed to the dancer in me at once. I bought it on a whim, even though I was afraid of getting just another superficial treatment of swing. Pener proved me wrong; this book is killer-diller! I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of research Pener did for the book; any history major (which I am) would be proud of this one. Well-written, well-researched, with tons of addresses, web sites, and CD recommendations, this book is a gem. I thought knew quite a bit about the history and development of swing--I was wrong. A great resource for dancers who want to learn more swing history, culture and fashions. Every dancer, music historian, and swing lover should own this book!

Carlson's book is a snapping great book! It definitely opens your eyes to the transitional elements of design into our society and how it has impacted our way of seeing design as an important aspect to life. The only lacking component to the book is the author's critical analysis on the ideas and examples that he proposes. If that was his intention, he still did a great job in making his book completely engaging. The way in which Carlson formulated the book made the reading process entirely interactive, fun, and easier to read, compared to a formless novel densely packed with words. Definitely a great book to read while sitting and sipping on a cup of tea or coffee.

If you are a cannabis user, then you like me already know the pain of lighting one up, as you have to make sure you go outside, away from people and all that jazz. I live in a building where smoking is prohibited. But this book was truly an eye opener for me, it is like smoking or puffing an e-cigarette, which is allowed in most places even inside my apartment building.I have heard about it, even saw some videos on YouTube, but wasn't very clear in what all it takes to do all this, until I found. bought and read the book. This book is a clear guide on who you can get started vaping not just cannabis but various other herbs and even wax. I am very delighted and felt compelled to write this review as I just bought and tried my first cannabis vaping experience. best part is there is little to no waste! This is a great book indeed.

I don't feel that there is anything deceptive about this book at all. The cover says it is about all different types of vaping and that's exact;y what it is about. The book looks at everything from basic e-cigs to more sophisticated vaping methods. It does mention the use of cannabis and cannabid derivatives, but it does not in anyway promote illegal activities of any kind. The book is very informative and very well written. I know I'll never take up smoking actual tobacco cigarettes again, but I may just consider vaping now that I've read this.

If you’ve ever been interested in an easy explanation of vaping, this is a decent book to use. It explains the differences between dry herb, wax and oils and how they work in vaporizers. The author has suggestions on budgeting your usage and how to find suppliers and deals. It explains the vaping apparatus and how it’s used. There are a few good nuggets in this book for beginners. For instance, did you know you can vape regular herbs and oils for other health benefits? This author explains that.

I have no clue how I ordered this ebook. Figured I paid for it I mind as well read it. It was an interesting and informative book.

This book taught me several reasons why E cigarettes are more beneficial for the body than regular smoking. It talks about vaping, the ingredients in E cigs that make it healthier for you to smoke and the cost difference. I honestly thought I knew alot about the street terms for smoking but, I really knew nothing after reading this book. It explains dry herb vaping using a hookah device. How vape pens work, Liquid and dry herb atomizers, the wide array of herbs you can smoke nowadays which blows my mind (damiana, green tea, chamomile, peppermint, hops, lavender), herbal cannibis. The medicinal effects of vaping cannibis, THC and CBD. What is wax vaping? This book basically has the answers to many questions about smoking or vaping that you have ever thought of and more. Definitely a short informative read. Very powerful information in here.
