I saw this book in the local library and read it This is an excellent book.I am impressed by the quality of the material, printing and presentation. I would recommend it as "coffee table book" for families who want to know about India. Although I bought it as "Used book" it was as good as new.

Our child isn't "explosive" but just way harder to get to do stuff than some - i.e. transition from bed to up, from TV to homework, from friend's house to car, etc. This book really helps in explaining those behaviors so they make sense and giving techniques to avoid the threats and yelling that I hate to say was getting pretty common in our house. Maybe better title: "The Explosive Parent; A New Approach for Understanding and Dealing With the Strange Person You Become sometimes when Dealing With Your Child."

I will admit it... my first 2 kids were very easy. So easy, in fact that I was lulled into a false sense of confidence about this parenting thing. I might even have to admit that I got a bit smug and yes...it's true...Judge-y. Yep. I would see parents with a child who was screaming and out of control and think something along the lines of "They only need to be consistent and set firm boundaries and then their little monster will become docile and compliant like my amazing kids..." So you have probably heard of the great scripture, "Judge not, lest ye be judged." well...all I can say is that Yikes. God is listening and God has a sense of humor. Yeah...I'm living that scripture out in a real world way with child #3. Trust me...in my mind I have apologized to every stranger I ever stood in arrogant judgement of...a million times over. I wish I could write them encouraging notes and tell them I know they have probably tried every trick in the book and to please know that their horribly behaved child is NOT a reflection of them and poor parenting (as I have eaten so much crow about!!!). I have apologized in person to the parents I know in real life for thinking they might have been missing the "magic touch" to tame their wild beast. I am now the weary, battle-scarred and infinitely more humble mom to one such wild beast...errrr rather, "explosive child."Our daughter's OT suggested this book and I'm pretty sure I sounded like really enthusiastic parishioner during a great sermon because I found myself blurting out "YES!!" "That's exactly right!" and "Amen!!" a few times...and I suddenly felt understood and human again. But, most importantly, I understood my little explosive child much better and began to learn ways to avoid her going into VAPOR LOCK and being "unreachable" and volatile.Does she still throw humiliating tantrums without regard to where we are or who might witness it? Yes. Am I still mortified in those moments and begging God to spontaneously combust me? Yes. Will that ever change...? I doubt it. lol But we are doing better now that I have a more solid understanding of her psychology and how to work with it.If you are looking at this book, perhaps it is because someone in your life (a doctor, OT, Therapist, friend, or fellow parent of an explosive child) has recommended it, so please know I am praying for you! lol I do...I pray for parents everywhere who have a child like this because it is really the hardest thing I have ever undertaken as a parent!! Please know you are not alone....and as a reformed judger, I can only say I am so so so sorry. I never knew!!! But I am humbled and wiser now...and still wondering if spontaneous combustion could save me from some of the more embarrassing locales of explosions.... :-)

At first the premise of this book is a little hard to take in, but once you do, it is a god send. It took me 2 readings to finally understand, believe, and then commit to the idea. Once I started using "Plan B" with my teen age daughter everything began to change, for the better.

I got this book two years ago for my 3 year old girl. She was frustrated, I was frustrated, and she had 2 younger siblings. We needed change. This book changed our lives. I took every word to heart. Wrote down the problems and came up with a strategy. Focused on one behavior at a time. It took months of hard work to see progress but one skill at a time has added up to a strong and amazing straight A Kindergartener who is thriving. I know her better than my other kids because of the journey we had to go threw together. The parent training I received from implementing the teachings in this book has made life so much easier for my other kids because whatever comes up, this mom has a plan. I realized today when referring this to a friend today just how far we have come. I had forgotten how hard things once more. And as I wathed her kid struggle like mine used to I couldn't help but think, that kid has amazing potential once his determination is pointed in the right direction. Yours can too. Read the book and study it like a college course. Your life and children's lives will change. Having a plan gives up hope. This is your plan.

The best series ever for young readers. It is very hard to find books for young readers that are based on the natural world. The photos are beautiful, the storyline is full of accurate, interesting, scientific facts about the creatures, and has a vocabulary building review at the back of the book. And each book in this series has several upside down jokes that reference the animal, an added point of interest for Montessori and all children. BTW, I have gotten more than 30 of these books for my classroom. Highly recommended!

Purchased this for my grandson..he loved the book and learned some facts about elephants...books like this is enjoyable to a child while he learns...

Gosh, I don't even know where to start. I loved the first book in this series and recommended it to my friends. The second book was funny, but the idea lost its originality (obviously sequels usually stink). The third and fourth book started going downhill from story line to character (lack) development and the constant cussing and immature behavior of the "Queen".Now this 5th book seriously TANKS. I have no idea why Davidson insists on making the lead character whiney, annoying, unreasonable, selfish, rude, disrespectful and haughty. It is just horrid and more frightening than the thought of vampires living among us. The relationships aren't quite developed and there are a lot of characters that are still stuck in limbo with nothing new to revive them since their introduction in the first or second book.I also dislike the way the lead character (Elizabeth/Betsy/Queen) treats everyone around her. She is ruthlessly selfish and has an "I don't care" attitude throughout the books. No one really stands up to her and she continues to blindly stumble through situations without EVER learning her lesson. I know Davidson is trying to make "Elizabeth/Betsy" be a fun loving character, but she misses the point of compassion and politeness.I am also really sick of all the cussing and rude remarks and the constant use of "uncool" words like: "pal", "oh boy", and "cutie". What? I thought she was supposed to be a cool 30 something vampire not some house mom from Fresno. Either way, the dialogue is hard to work through and Betsy seems to think the weight of the world is on her selfish shoulders and gives the reader dose after miserable dose of negative dialogue. She never gives her friends and lover a benefit of a doubt and then ends up in stupid situations that really aren't THAT entertaining - even though they're meant to be.Sadly, this is the last book I'm waisting time on. I cannot torture myself any longer. I want to be a fan, but I just can't wrap around a negative, cussing, sassy brat character. Just can't do it.

MaryJanice Davidson has a uniquely humorous voice, which makes her the only romance author out there from whom I will eagerly purchase a book. The "Queen Betsy" series is one of my favorites in one of my favorite genres - the "silly vampire" books.In this, the 5th outing for the unlikely vampire queen, Betsy (from Minneapolis), we find Betsy a few days from her 31st birthday, which will also be one year from the day she was killed by being hit by an Aztek (what a plebian way to go!) and awoke as a vampire - horrified to find that The Ant (as she calls her stepmother) had dressed her for her funeral in absolutely dreadful shoes.Betsy is planning for her non-existent Surprise Birthday Party (which she doesn't want), as well as the wedding to her Vampire King Eric Sinclair, which is scheduled for three months away. Additionally, some hot-shot vampire big-wigs from Europe are showing up. To complicate matters, Sophie (a vampire friend of Betsy's) wishes to "turn" her boyfriend Liam, which leaves Betsy rather discombobulated. Until Betsy learns her best friend, Jessica, has myeloma, whereupon she finds herself pondering the same course of action for her friend. That is, of course, if she changes her mind about never drinking blood again. Then, when Sophie and Liam run up against the big shot European vampires - that's when things really hit the fan, because one of the European contingent is the vampire who killed Sophie and turned her into a vampire and she is out for blood. What's a benevolent vampire queen to do?Written with an always wry and witty outlook on life, the Betsy books are truly a terrific way to relax and enjoy a nice evening with a cup of tea. Do yourself a favor, pick up a couple and have a few laughs with Betsy!

I was disappointed by this entry in Mary Janice Davidson's Undead series. Undead and Unpopular lacks any real tension. It suffers from too much exposition and dialog. They are talking in the kitchen. They are talking in the parlor. They are talking in the bedroom. There really didn't seem to be much actual action at all. The menace implied by the European vampires never really seemed all that menacing. When I got to the end of the book I had to go back and check. I couldn't find a real climax to any of the action. I think that's the point. The action in this book was sorely missing. Betsy's self-centered whining is starting to get old, and there seemed to be a chapter I missed somewhere along the line. Probably some short story in an anthology. I dislike when authors assume you'll read every anthology they contribute to.

I do not understand the title . Nevertheless, It was an enjoyable read. The character development is spot on and this series continues to be unpredictable . Now I am looking forward to the next installment .

This is a fantastic little vampire tale based in the Twin Cities area. I love reading the series and have now bought them here to read again and again. Expect elicit sexual discussion and vampire blood sucking yarns, but it is hilarious, fun and just a great read!

Even though I am a guy, I really enjoy MaryJanice Davidson' books. Her characters have attitude, her story lines are filled with humor AND they keep you guessing as to "What will happen next".I can't say enough GOOD about these books, (and their author). I've purchased and read all the Mermaid and Undead series. In fact, on multiple times I've sat up all night just to finish a book.HIGHLY RECOMMEND

512 pages of SABRINA The Teenage Witch comics in chronological order. Every appearance from 1962 through 1972 in this volume. All black and white pages on solid white print stock, not cheap newsprint. You'd be hard pressed to find a well read condition copy of any Sabrina comic from this era off ebay for the price of this book. Great and fun stories for all ages. For comic art fans, it's an amazing and fascinating ride through the various evolutionary art styles until the character's look was cemented by the end of the sixties by, of course, Dan DeCarlo. Yeah it would be great to have this same collection in color but at a size and price like this you are absolutely more likely to take along with you to the beach, on a commute, a flight or just out on the patio. Highest possible recommendation for any fan of quality comics. An unbeatable value. A trip to past eras. A great gift for any kid looking for comic book fun.Added my own photos to verify actual cover art since Amazon is currently featuring the wrong image. Also wanted to show contents pages to confirm just how many and which comic issues of Sabrina's appearances are collected in here.

Fun visit to the magical realm of Sabrina. The pages are all in black & white, however it doesn't distract on the artwork by Dan DeCarlo's. In fact it highlights his drawings even more. This is the first time these stories are collected in a large edition like this. Fun summer read.

It’s my own fault for not reading the description more closely, but the black and white interiors were a major disappointment. Yes, I know they clearly state it. But I’ve become accustomed to their collections being in color, so I made the mistake of assuming. I will not be reading this, the colorized art is so much a part of the experience to me. Guess I’ll give it away or something.

I cannot wait until Volume 2 is released; Everything about this book is nicely organized, categorized, and keeps you turning the page! Every appearance of Sabrina between 1962-1972 is in this book; that's over 500 pages of goodies! I enjoyed the stories (some literally made me laugh out loud!) and watched Sabrina "grow"/"mold" in a decade. Every fan of Sabrina The Teenage Witch & Archie needs this awesome bundle of spellbinding comic!Come on Volume 2.... Come Through!!!!

I must admit that I was quite surprised by the archival history and stories of this book from the debut of its star character to the series at its beginning, although I would rather have a large edition in full color I can really enjoy - and I can hardly wait for the second volume to continue reading!

I was so looking forward to this book. I admit I did not read the description but I never expected this lovely book to be in black and white! I am really disappointed. It takes away the whole fun and experience. Why would anyone print this book in black and white knowing how we all expect color for such a major book full of the best stories so far? I do hope if they do print a book 2 it will be in color. I don't know if I will ever get the feel or zeal to read this book.

A nice compilation of early Sabrina The Teenage Witch stories and cover appearances. The only drawback is the book is in Black and White. The stories are still entertaining but lack of color detracts a bit from your enjoyment. The stories from the late 60's have lots of counter culture visual references and magical visuals that lose something in black and white. Still if you are interested in Sabrina as a character or want her stories and appearances in a chronology this book is worth your time. The price also makes it a value. I will say my 11 year old grand daughter had no issues with the black and white as she dove into the volume.

I have fond memories of watching the Sabrina and Archie cartoons as a child and reading through these Silver Age gems was a treat. I'll admit to not being too fond of the modern reimagining of both Sabrina and Riverdale--I guess it's a generational thing. However, reading the earlier Sabrina comics, you very quickly see that Sabrina did have a mischievous side to her that every once in a while came out.
