I received the Kindle version of this book. It opened with no issue in my Kindle for Android app and seems formatted okay, although useless as a coloring book in Kindle form. I received this book in Kindle version for free in exchange for my honest review, so here it is -This book is a cool concept, but it seems thrown together. It’s as if someone took ready-made coloring pages and added blank white text in different fonts over it. It’s certainly not very creative or original. The naughty words themselves have no detail, and I could easily make this book myself at about a page a minute. I love adult coloring books and find them rather relaxing and therapeutic, and love the idea of this book, especially as a gift as my friends have the same sense of humor as I do. I was incredibly disappointed. There are far better ones out there.I only review items I have used, and I assure you my review is unbiased and based on the quality of the product I received. My goal is to provide as much honest and helpful information as possible to help you make an informed purchase. As someone who shops primarily online due to health issues, I understand the importance of thorough and accurate reviews. I hope my review has helped you.

I received this coloring ebook for free for an unbiased honest review. Since it was a digital copy I cannot color it without taking a screen-shot and printing manually and I probably will since a few of the pages really appealed to me. Included in the ebook is a link to sign up for free ebooks, something I will have to check out later. Should I find it to be a great place to get free ebooks, I will update my review.The book begins by an explanation of the benefits of coloring for everyone and how it is re can sort items of importance by color. This introduction explains the psychology behind coloring and not just for adults, but the importance for children as well. I agree with everything and also like to color with my children, it gives us quality time to spend together. While all of that is nice and very informative, this is NOT the book to color with your children, unless they are over the age of 18.I can really see the possibilities with this coloring book. If someone cuts you off in traffic or takes your parking spot all you have to do when you get home is pick a nice foul word that adequately mirrors your own feelings and work out some aggression. I would recommend this coloring book and think it might be a great gift for friends and family who like to (or perhaps need to) color. I would say, though, to pick a nice secure spot for it, because you might have some explaining to do if your kids find this one! I've included some images of a few of my favorites.

Fun idea. Lousy implementation. The author & I have different ideas of what constitutes a swear word. There are a few here. But, many of the others are just sexual terms. In junior high they might have been considered "dirty words."In fairness, I will say the background pictures are very nice.

I recently fell into the coloring trend as a form of stress relief and relaxation. I saw this coloring book and thought it would be right up my alley. I knew that it was an ebook when I ordered it but I also knew that I would also be receiving printable pages and that is what I was really looking forward to with this purchase. However, I was disappointed. The swear words on the printable pages are not combined with the designs. They are just words on top of the background design. Honestly, it takes away from the fun and relaxation. They are just words. If they had been intertwined with the background design and it took a minute to read the words, kind of like an optical illusion, that would have be perfect! Coloring in some regular swear words is not really relaxing and I could just create that on a Word document and print as needed. The part about coloring that is so relaxing is the focus it takes to color between small areas and seeing the colors come together like a bigger mandala. Sadly I am not that pleased with this purchase. I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion, which I have provided. I would never provide a falsified review just to receive a discount.

this is a great book for biblical counselors who need to learn how to see their own sin 'with new eyes' and in turn help others see theirs... the x ray questions on chapter 7 is worth the price of the book alone... these are fabulous questions to get to the root of what is really going on and they are great questions as they are and easily modifiable if you need or want to customize them (which i highly recommend).. greate book.

So far in my life, this is the most helpful book I've read, and I count it as my favorite. Powlison is relatable and so still as he writes, and the words really go deep. They sit on truths in meditation that are impacting to core of who we are. Powlison exposes where profession denies true belief, and he gives clear, scripture-breathed meditation to the deepest struggles we have. The topics can seem so intimidating at first glance, raising current culturally approved psychoanalytic and therapeutic theories. Yet, when you get into how Powlison addresses these, it returns to sounding like the scripture we're so familiar with, and we can fall in line his thinking easily and be refreshed. This book hits the mark, and it lands squarely on God Himself as our rescue, our means, our hope, and our reward. If you want to counsel, this book is not a bad starting place.

"Seeing with New Eyes" is the first volume in Powlison's proposed three-volume set on Christian counseling. This first volume he sees as providing the theological foundation for understanding psychological issues from a spiritual, biblical perspective.The "new eyes" are the eyes enlightened by faith in Christ and restored to sight by confidence in the sufficiency of Scripture to explain life and relationships. "Seeing with New Eyes" offers a theological-intellectual defense of "Nouthetic Counseling" as a biblical counseling model seeking to understand truth about God and humanity through God's eyes as revealed in Scripture.It is an excellent introduction by perhaps the leading theologian in the Nouthetic Counseling movement. However, the book is also a compilation of many previous articles by the author. Thus at times it reads more as a string of excellent artilces than a tightly woven and thematically consistent book. That aside, Powlison is to be commended for his articulate explanation of the human condition through the lens of Scripture.Reviewer: Bob Kellemen, Ph.D., is the author of "Soul Physicians," "Spiritual Friends," and the forthcoming "Beyond the Suffering: The Story of African American Soul Care and Spiritual Direction."

Having read many books from the usual secular self-help and Christian counseling scene this book really shattered most of their half-truths and revealed the wonder of the cross in a totally different light.I don't think I've ever felt as challenged about my views and motives nor as in absolute awe of what Christ's death on the cross as was revealed by this book. Unlike many books this is not one big idea padded out, this is real meat as each chapter addresses different aspects of our psychology with the sharp blade of scripture.I just hate it when you're taught things at church and by well meaning Christian friends that are actually so against the beauty of the cross and our ongoing sanctification. I loved that Powlison addressed much of the popular advice and how their small presuppositions lead people off track on big matters. If there's anything this book will do it won't let you finish it with your pride intact.I would say if you want to know what counseling that is empowered by understanding the bible, God's character and our place in his scheme then this book is my suggested starting point.For the sake of your ministry, even if you're just a member of a church, please read this book!

So nice! Really cute book! I made many dolls using the templates of a "retro posable dolls" and sincerely, I can't stop making them! The rest of the ideas in the book are very charming, and I am intending to make the kitty and her friends if, naturally, I can stop to make my adorable little retro dolls! lol.

Extremely simple if you've ever taken a home ec class in school. My personal experience with this was I wanted to make some felt dolls for myself and some friends, but I was worried as I always have trouble with the wire innards and getting the pattern just right. This book is translated into English, and I can't even say that was a huge help because the instructions have very clear pictures and numbers. I use an app on my phone to take a picture of the page and then print it out at 200% or whatever the dimensions are and the pieces all fit together perfectly.My first felt doll took about 12 hours total to make (shush!), but by my fourth one I got it down to about 4 hours, including brushing out wefts of yarn for hair.

If you are willing to wing it a bit, this book is great. Admittedly, I've only made the kitty and some of her clothes, and the kitty is adorable, but the directions weren't very clear. I had to modify the shorts to make them work.I also found the pattern enlarging requirements to be annoying, because several pages called for different enlargement ratios, and none would fit on a standard sheet of paper.

As expected from Naomi Tabatha, more quality and cute patterns! I have some of her other books in Japanese, and they cost me $20 as opposed to the below $10 here on Amazon. They're of comparable quality, and the books are also the same exact size. Just as a head's up, like her other books, the patterns have to be enlarged by 200%. They're still easy to follow and put together, but I'd probably recommend this book for people that have sewing/felt work experience, rather than for people with no experience.

I purchased this for my 9 year old daughter who loves creating from felt. It's a little too hard for her (a beginner at sewing). In her own words this one is for "pros". I think it's for folks who are a little more advanced with their needle work. I do think it has great instructions and wonderful photos illustrating the creations.

Adorable book with easy to follow patterns. I have made several of the animals from this book and intend to try my hand at making more. A must for any soft toy enthusiast.

Segre offers some new perspectives into the lives, personalities and colleagues of two remarkable twentieth century scientists. Much of the rich tapestry of interactions and events that make this an interesting book are recently treated by other authors, but Ordinary Geniuses contains many special insights. Bohr's fondness of complementarity, and his view that "the existence of life must be considered as an elementary fact that cannot be explained" is surprising in its likeness to Pascual Jordan's beyond-physics force of vitalism (a little like the odd rationale offered more recently by Gould that it is reasonable to remove our very existence from the logic of science).Delbruck's bottom-up physical examination of biological phenomena helps mark an important change in science, and presaged Schrodinger's book, What is Life. Similarly, Gamow's transition to cosmology achieved more than the foundations of big bang theory, his collegiate approach through Washington conferences, in the vein of Bohr's colloquia, stimulated many achievements in science. One is reminded, as the central characters bob from low to high in their careers, of the importance of philanthropic institutions like the Rockefeller Foundation in keeping the scientific ball rolling. `Geo' Gamow is well portrayed as the vital, hard-living, gregarious exponent of the "pioneering thing". Max Delbruck is the challenging, restless soul that some, other than this warm and respecting author, might term brash. This trait can certainly be forgiven considering Delbruck's almost naïve abhorrence of secrecy in science and his frequent admonition "Don't do fashionable research", refreshing perspectives that Segre repeats as sage advice.The themes of the fundamental physical processes of life and of big bang cosmology are examined through the process of science. Linking the lives of two of these two pioneers proves to be a useful and memorable approach, if occasionally contrived or needy of hyperbole, and Segre's understanding of the science and the scientists make the project work.

The book is in general, nice, but it jumps from one scientist to the other and in time constantly, so it feels a little fragmented/disconnected.As other reviewers have commented, these researchers have few things in common career and life wise, so sometimes the links are a little forced.The book gives, however, a really nice general picture of the state of research in biology and astrophysics at the time, and just this makes it worth it. I would read it again and recommend to friends interested in history and development of biological and/or astrophysics research.

"Ordinary Geniuses" by Gino Segrè"Ordinary Geniuses" pleasantly relates the historical intertwining of Physics and Biology from the 1930's to the 1960's through the lives of George Gamow and Max Delbrück.George Gamow (1904 - 1968) discovered radioactive decay in which an atomic nucleus emits an alpha particle and worked on star formation, "Big Bang" cosmology, creation of chemical elements from hydrogen, cosmic microwave background, and genetics. Max Delbrück (1906 - 1981) studied astrophysics moving to biology studying genetics, bacteria and their viruses or `phage', and won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1969 for the replication mechanism and genetic structure of viruses.This dual focus allows a comparison of the development of the new fields of `Big Bang' cosmology and molecular biology. Yet there are two quibbles.Is the "Ordinary" qualification to "Geniuses" necessary or deserved? These days, the term "genius" seems to be well defined in James Gleick's book on Richard Feynman titled "Genius". ("There are two kinds of geniuses, the `ordinary' and the `magicians'. An ordinary genius is a person that you and I would be just as good as, if we were only many times better. There is no mystery about how their mind works. Once we understand what they have done, we feel certain that we, too, could have done it. It is different with the magicians ... where ... the working of their minds is for all intents and purposes incomprehensible. Even after we understand what they have done, the process by which they have done it is completely dark.") But is the stratification of "Genius" v's "Ordinary Genius" warranted in this book? Not really.Secondly, the lives of these two scientists did intertwine to an extent and there were common traits such as their maverick approach breaking away from the mainstream. Yet does the switching from Physics to Biology and back burden the story, particularly when combined with the necessary personal and historical context plus associated anecdotes? [Incidentally, a good anecdote is that about Wolfgang Pauli "... you never had to worry about asking him a stupid question because he regarded all questions as stupid". And of course the famous 'alpha/beta/gamma' paper where Hans Bethe was added as second author to a paper by Ralph Alpher and George Gamow simply for effect; and even an attempt to get Bob Herman to change his name to Delter to get the foursome 'alpha/beta/gamma/delta'.]These quibbles aside, the story of both maverick scientists George Gamow and Max Delbrück gives rare insights into two major revolutions of twentieth century science from an historical viewpoint and the personal view of grasping the power of intellectual freedom. Both scientists founded entirely new areas of the highest intellectual achievement. Achievement only restrained by the false assumptions that the origin of the universe and the origin of life on earth were beyond the bounds of science [e.g. "... scientists in the 1950's felt `uncomfortable' talking about anything as remote as the universes first minutes" so they did not look for the microwave background radiation, delaying its discovery for a decade; and similar delays to appreciate that DNA is the carrier of genetic information].Perhaps the next step is to search for further reading of these two geniuses, either together as presented by Gino Segrè or just the reader's favorite. Very good book to understand more deeply how JVM works internally, not only GC. Many books focus mainly on GC, but this one describes many more aspects of JVM internals (such as threading, JVM internal memory representation, bytecode, JIT compilers etc). Moreover, the book contains overview of many tools which can help you on a daily basis work with JVM. If you have read Java Performance: The Definitive Guide: Getting the Most Out of Your Code you won't regret reading this one as well.

The book is informative from an elementary perspective, however it is extremely inconsistent. There are many principles that one should know before buying this book since it is not about them. On the important material it is covering, it does reveal to the knowledgeable reader many important issues with Java performance. However, please note the book does not look as if the authors proof read their work. It appears more as a draft. It's FULL of incomplete sentences, unfinished paragraphs!!! and worse... One paragraph will make a point, and the next will contradict that point. Many critical and important issues are missed due to its incompleteness, thus leaving the reader hanging and with more questions than they started with. It is unfinished. It would also be a good idea and is an expectation for this price, if they walked the reader through using many of the tools they mention. However, due to the current state of the book... proof reading would seem to be the priority and statements in the description should be made that it does not teach the reader how to use the tools. They do discuss tools and what they help identify, but it is not clear how to use them. Definitely! Not worth the money ($52) in it's current state. O'Reilly lost several points on this one. This book gets a C.

Most of this book is focused on general performance concepts and on how the JVM works, and should therefore also be useful to anyone not using Java (the language), but running their code on a JVM. It's not a cookbook for diagnosing and solving specific performance problems, or a convenient collection of performance hacks. There is some discussion of tools for benchmarking, monitoring, and profiling, but isn't very comprehensive or detailed, just enough to be a starting point for your own research.

I hadn't read the subtitle of “Optimizing Java” so I didn't know it was about JVM performance vs application level tricks. That turned out to be a pleasant surprise as I learned more.I learned a good number of things. From the fun (CAFEDADA bytecode for modules) to the practical (tools for looking at JVM resources)I've heard a talk about garbage collection a few times now. G1GC isn't easy to understand. Between reading this book and hearing one more talk on it, the concepts finally clicked.I also learned a lot about modern hardware vs what I learned in school. And what book isn't made better by a ninja quote?There were some API level concepts like why toUpperCase() is so complicated to implement. Along with warnings about premature optimization.This is the first O'Reilly book that I've read that is in color.
