I’m not even sure how to start this review. In my opinion, this story was horrible. Sydney and Jace were two of the worst main characters. Sydney had absolutely no backbone. She took what ever scraps of attention she could get from Jace and fell in love with him. She fell in love with a man who repeatedly was mean to her, forgot he asked her to come over because he was drunk and he basically used her. Have a little self worth. Jace was on his way to being a drunk. He was selfish and just an ugly person. He couldn’t even give his kids the time of day. Then when the pregnancy came, he was an even worse person. To say I was disappointed in this book is putting it mildly.

Jace Montgomery. Jace is handsome and wealthy. He is also a man who is a workaholic, heartbroken, numb, bitter, angry, anti-social and so very sad. He’s Preston Montgomery’s from “Transference” older brother. In this book “Absolution” ( which is a standalone) we meet Jace and we feel his emotions. Ava has written and described a man who on the outside seems like he has it all but, on the inside he is filled with torment. Sydney White. Sydney is beautiful and intelligent she loves with all her heart and wants to help people at all cost. She has made some big mistakes regarding her romantic life and she does not want to go down that road again. When you connect with someone and it’s strong it’s hard to fight those feelings and She wants to help Jace. This is where this truly emotional love story begins. There is so much more then just Jace and Sydney, there is also his two children. They both add to the emotions of seeing and dealing with a dad that is lost. I loved “Absolution.” My tears of hurt, sadness, and joy were with me while reading. In the end I just couldn’t stop thinking of their journey. Ava, has captured me with this amazing story. It will be one of my favorite of hers. Bravo!

This book gripped my heart from the first pages and never let it go. A story of loss, heartbreak and finding love when you absolutely don’t want it, I fell in love with watching the characters discover that it is ok to be happy and loved. This book gives alternating view points - letting the reader see inside both of the characters minds and internal struggles with accepting love.Devastated by the loss of his wife, Jace Montgomery is just existing, not being the father his children need or the man he used to be. Forced to attend his brothers wedding and watch him start his happily ever after while Jace is still struggling to even make it a day without a drink numbing his existence. So the last thing Jace thinks he needs is anyone, especially a nosy women, butting into his business. Yet in walks Sydney White, a women fighting her own internal battles, someone who could possibly be the breathe that Jace doesn’t even realize he needs in his life. Sydney has made the wrong choices with men her whole life, the last being a client she hooked up with, not knowing he was married and had stalker tendencies. So when she and Jace begin to hook up, life takes them for a ride neither expected yet something they both so desperately needed, someone to fall back on and love.

This then...THIS IS IN THE TOP THREE BEST BOOKS I'VE EVER READ!*Boom* *Mic drop*Okay, in all honesty, if those three statements up there don't sell this book to you then I'm unsure what more I can say apart from this book is SENSATIONAL.The writing is flawless. Reading is effortless. The story carries you away and just infiltrates every single cell inside your body! It breaks your heart, wrecks it even, but it also heals your heart in the best way possible. Ava has written two characters that are so incredible. They mesh beautifully even though they are so broken. I am just FULL. Full of love, for everything inside this book from the front cover to the back.Ava Harrison you are incredible. Ab•so•lu•tion is EVERY SINGLE THING. I loved it!

I could not connect with Sydney & Jace. Besides Sydney's connection with the kids, I did not enjoy anything else about her character. Jace's character was redeemed too late in the book for me to like him. The storyline was very predictable, and it just wasn't for me. I wanted to love this book, and I have enjoyed other books written by this author, but this book just fell short for me.

I have experienced a run of bad books recently. This book was so monotonous. The female character is weak and pathetic. The male character has no redeeming qualities. This is no romance. It’s a struggle to read. The cover gets 5 stars and the book deserves 0.

Why oh why have a waited this long to read Ava Harrison!!!!Absolution was outstanding!! It sucked me in, I could not turn the pages fast enough.Jace and Sydney’s story.... what a ride of emotions as these two navigate there journey. The family, friends and children were written so perfectly.Sydney is just a beautiful soul with such a caring heart, but her choices in the dating world have not been good. She is fierce and yet vulnerable at times.Jace is so sexy, stubborn, at times mean but you can’t help but fall hard for this man. His struggles are real, grief and guilt aren’t easy to deal with.I loved this book so very much.Well done Ava!! You made this reader a fan for life.

I first read the Tao Te Ching in college. Somewhere along the line I lost that copy so I decided to pick up this one (especially since it had such high reviews). This copy seemed much different than the one I read years back. And I am not just talking about the author's choice to use female pronouns as well as male pronouns in his version (incidentally - how close can one get to awareness of Tao if one allows oneself to get hung up on seeing "He" rather than "She" in the teachings?).In one portion of this "tao de ching: A New English Version" ("Version" is the key word) the author chooses to translate "When the Tao is absent in a country,/ war horses are bred on the borders" to "When a country goes counter to the Tao, Warheads are stockpiled outside the cities". This author has written his "modernized" version of the Tao Te Ching and he claims to have been open in this fact, supposedly by him using the terms "A New English Version". When one reads further one in the notes you see the author admitting he does not even know Chinese (so his interpretation of the Tao is from other translations - and how he thinks the lines should read for poetics sake, or P.C. sake, etc).At first I thought I would not write a review on this book. But when seeing the author admit to what I had suspected it made me feel like I really got ripped off. If you are looking for a translation of the Tao Te Ching do not get this author's book. The author respects the Tao but this is not the real deal. I will be purposefully losing this book and looking for a better translation.

I had no idea what to expect of this book when It arrived. I turned it over in my hands and it was clearly very short in length, so I decided to just read a few pages while I finished my morning coffee.One and a half hours later I had finished the book entirely, along with my coffee, and I immediately knew upon completion that I would read this book many, many more times in my life.It was a highly profound, dare I say life changing read that dramatically impacted my perspective towards my own happiness and how I interact with others. Written as a collection of very short, almost poem-like chapters, often each occupying less than a single page, this book is a masterfully crafted guide to find real happiness and fulfillment in your life. It is a tome that empowers you, humbles you, and leads you around the pitfalls that so many humans fall into throughout their lives.It is not a modern self help book with life-hacks, habit forming tips, or other such articulations, but rather a fundamental, deep, and moving look at what makes up a fulfilling life.If you are someone who has discovered mindfulness, explores meditation, or ponders philosophy, then this book is, without question, a must-read.And if you are more of a go-getter. I don't know about all that. I know Lao Tsu was so important to Asian culture and life, and I know this book makes me feel whole again with each reading. I slow down, and his true words align the iron filings in my heart.Let the educated debaters go on with their "Ten thousand things" arguing about translations and meanings. They miss the point. Get this book, make some tea, turn of the incessant rattlings in your brain and the screens in your home and relax to ancient wisdom that has influenced millions of hearts and minds for thousands of years...

This book is very confusing to read because of the way its been printed. There's no uniformity; Instead of having one verse per page and then a commentary section, there's several verses on one page with different types and sizes of font throughout so visually it looks very cluttered and crammed together and it's not enjoyable to read. It looks like a cheap, self-publishing project gone wrong. It's such an important text, it's disappointing that they didn't take more care to make it more readable.
