I'm 50 something and I joined the trend of adult coloring approximately 2 years ago. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis almost 17 years ago and it has taken many things from me during that time. I suffer from major depression and an anxiety disorder, my vision has been affected and I have permanent nerve damage in my dominant hand. After I read about the "therapeutic" aspects of coloring, I decided I would give it a try. It's by far the least expensive therapy option I've tried and I remember how much I loved to color and draw when I was a little girl. I'm an only child, so coloring and reading were two of my favorite rainy day activities.I love every single coloring book created by Cindy Elsharouni. She is an incredibly talented artist and with every single book she creates, the art is fresh and new, and she gets better and better with every new book. She has a style that is all her own. I loved horses as a child, but I was never able to pursue one of my first loves after my grandparents' divorced. My grandpa bred Arabian horses and each and every one of them was unique, and so are Cindy's illustrations. I follow Cindy Elsharouni so that I never miss the release of a new coloring book. I usually purchase two of each horse-themed coloring book because my sister-in-law rides regularly and she competes during the summer when she isn't teaching. I'm not able to go and watch her compete, but I send her coloring books to let her know my heart is with her. I always get an excited "Thank you" email from her when she receives my gift in the mail.Since I became a fan of Cindy's horse-themed coloring books, I've had the pleasure of coloring a lot more than horses. Cindy Elsharouni has also created several other coloring books; Cats, Dogs, Wild Animals, Mythical and Fantasy Animals, Wild Animals, with some very nice mandalas, flowers, paisleys, and fanciful quotes to color that are perfect for framing. WOW! A good book for the grown-up colorist! The book is filled with very well illustrated aquatic life, butterflies, birds, owls, unicorns, people, dogs, blossoms and more. Some of the drawings are elaborate with tiny spaces to color; however, others have broad spaces which are good for those who do not care for the intricate designs.What you will find inside this book:One per page well-defined designs centered on non-perforated white paper.Some designs have thin black line borders, and others are borderless.The cover illustration is included. If you want to create two different color schemes, then you are in luck because this fun design is found on the very first page and further into the book.The paper has texture/tooth. Colored pencils blend well and brush markers work nicely on the illustrations with wide spaces. Gel pens are perfect for adding just a smidge of color on eyes, petals etc. and also are great for those long skinny spaces. Expect bleed-through with brush pens and markers. Gel pens will leave shadows on back side of page. Be safe and use a thick blotter beneath your coloring page.Good construction with glued spine. The spine is flexible enough to allow the pages to lay flat for easy coloring.This is an excellent book to have in a colorist’s library for the lazy and the creative coloring days.Love the variety: A smorgasbord for the colorist
This is a great coloring book. The artwork is single sided so you can use any media you would like. I put a piece of cardboard behind the page so it doesn't bleed through when I use pens or watercolors. This coloring book has many different designs in it, flowers, mandalas, girls, and animals. Some designs are just that designs, some have words with them. The linework is clear even on the more detailed pictures with some lines heavier and some more delicate. Its good way to work off stress or simply relax after a long day or on the weekend. The paper is a nice quality with a little bit of a bite to it. I used prismacolor pencils and watercolor color pencils and was very pleased with the outcome. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to add a nice coloring book to their collection or to someone just beginning to dabble in coloring.
It's like an assortment of coloring pages from different artists. Some of the pictures I don't like, but there are a lot of pictures that I do. I love how there are so many things to choose from with different styles. I've been coloring these during work and it's been keeping me in a very good mood.
This is an ok book. Some of the drawings are not so good. I consider this a starter book in the adult coloring book world. The paper is maybe a half grade better than computer paper.
